The San Diego County Office of Education is proud to host INNOVATION DAY 2012.

This second INNOVATION DAY event is an opportunity for educators and information technology professionals to learn about the myriad devices, applications, appliances and digital tools now available in the open market with particular educational worth.  In addition, this year’s event will also feature content providers and education practitioners using digital technologies in interesting and innovative ways to teach our students.

This year, we're proud to be able to present two key note speakers:

                        Gabe Zichermann                        Jeff Borden
Mr. Gabe Zicheramann is the chair of the Gamification Summit, an author, and a highly rated public speaker and entrepreneur.  His book, Gamification by Design looks at the technical and architectural considerations for designers in the burgeoning field of gamification.  

Dr. Jeff Borden is Senior Director of Teaching & Learning at eCollege and adjunct lecturer at Chaminade University.  He has spoken around the world on topics related to education technology, digital textbooks, and creativity in the classroom.

Innovation Day 2012 is composed of six elements:

Keynote Presentations--Featured speakers will provide insightful presentations in plenary sessions.

Concurrent Sessions--Several sessions comprised of 30 to 45 minute seminars on the features and benefits of various devices, applications, and services.  These sessions also include moderated panel discussions with field experts and invited guests on topics such as computer adaptive testing, the deployment of one-device-one-student initiatives, robotics, and more. 

Talks from the Edge-- Discussions to inspire and motivate you to consider the future of education and information technologies.  

Exhibit Hall--An all-day element of the event wherein participants may interact with the devices, applications, and tools being featured by our select group of vendors and service providers.  View the exhibitors list here...

Think Tanks--First-come-first-served spaces for teams from schools and districts to congregate and discuss their plans for successful integration of technology and curriculum.

Chromebooks Cafe--A small cyber cafe (courtesy of Google)  made up entirely of Chromebooks.  Catch up with your correspondence, surf the Web, and learn about how these innovative tools may be used in your organization.
